Netherlands, Turkey sign agreement Thursday to build 175 megawatt solar power projects worth €200 million.

Turkey and the Netherlands signed an investment and cooperation agreement for €200 million (about $217 million) to carry out solar projects with a capacity of 175 megawatts on Thursday.

Yakamoz Energy Solutions and Turkish Humartas Energy signed the agreement in Istanbul during the innovation week organized by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly with the participation of Cihad Terzioglu, CEO of Humartas, Anwar Wazir, Yakamoz Energy chairman of the board and CEO Sefton Lo.

The first phase of the projects will be 57 megawatts in capacity and is planned for completion in the first half of 2016. The first phase requires €64 million in investment.

In 2017, the solar project is expected to rise to 175 megawatts in capacity.

The solar projects will generate 280 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, enough to supply 80,000 homes with power, said Humartas Energy chairman of the board Yilmaz Humartas.
